Anybody else remember this movie? Strother Martin (one of my favorite character actors) is a mad scientist who turns Dirk Benedict into a giant snake. I thought this was the coolest movie I had ever seen when I was 10 years old. Tuesday, January 18 2011

Back in 1980 a friend told me about a horrible movie he had just seen called "The Apple". I'll never forget the look of disbelief on his face as he tried to describe this sci-fi disco musical about an evil record company executive who takes over the world.
This movie makes almost everybody's list of worst films ever made but not many people (other than film critics) have seen it because it was wisely pulled from circulation and wasn't available on home video for years. So imagine my joy when this piece of crap turned up on Netflix, available to watch instantly! The Apple is a movie so jaw-droppingly bad it has to be seen to be believed. Its also an hour and twenty six minutes out of your life you'll never get back so don't say I didn't warn ya. Tuesday, June 01 2010

Former Who frontman Roger Daltrey put on a great show at The Showbox Sodo in Seattle October 13th. Daltrey played Who hits as well as some rare gems from his solo career and deep Who album tracks. The highlight of the show was when Eddie Vedder joined him onstage. One of those great rock & Roll moments fans will be talking about for years. Sunday, July 15 2007
Here's a chance to see my big fat face in a public service announcement, filmed Feb 2007. O.K, If you blink you'll miss me. I play the roll of "John the tie down your load Mailman". I remember the director pointing at me and saying "Look at that guys face"...thats good, right? Friday, July 14 2006
103.7 The Mountain (KMTT-FM) was named one of the top five rock radio stations in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine (July 13-27, 2006). In an article written by Evan Serpick, in the July issue of Rolling Stone, Rock Radios Last Stand, he asks the question What Happened To Rock Radio? Rolling Stone Magazine searched the country over and found five great radio stations that are both commercially viable and musically diverse. 103.7 The Mountain (KMTT-FM) is one of only five radio stations in the country to receive this honor. An excerpt --The station (KMTT-FM) has earned a reputation as a tastemaker with features like the Mountain Music Lounge, where favored artist like Fiona Apple, Trey Anastasio and Lyle Lovett come into the studio to play cuts from their new albums. (Rolling Stone Magazine, 1004/1005) We are very proud to be recognized by Rolling Stone. Seattle is a great radio market with an audience that truly loves music. This passion for the music makes diverse and adventurous radio possible. Without the incredible support of our listeners, The Mountain would not be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, says Shawn Stewart, Program Director KMTT-FM. "

Some of you may have noticed that I've been gone a while Its a long story so here it goes..... July 29 2005 I passed out in my apartment and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. At first we thought I was suffering from heat stroke, I was actually bleeding internally from scare tissue in my esophagus ( gotta take that acid reflux thing seriously kids ). During surgery I inhaled vomit into my lungs. ( Yup, just like Jimi Hendrix ) This lead to pneumonia and a condition call Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome or ARDS. The doctors gave me less that a 50/50 chance of living ( my family brought in a priest to perform last rights, what a drag! ) I was in a coma for 7 weeks, when I finally woke up my muscles had atrophied to the point that I could barley move. I spent a month in a nursing home to get me weaned off myriad of medications (which included morphine and methadone) and get my muscles working again Believe it or not I actually feel pretty lucky. ARDS affects over 150,000 people a year is about 50 percent fatal and kills more people a year than breast cancer, according to the ARDS foundation Many ARDS survivors end up permanently disabled. I still have some physical therapy to go through but over all I feel pretty good. I came out of this experience with about half a million dollars in medical bills, a new appreciation for life and a really cool scar that runs from my navel to my sternum. The doctors and nurses at Harborview did a great job at keeping my alive especially the ICU staff. I'd like to thank the physical therapy staff at Queen Ann Health Care as well. Its been a tough few months and I couldn't have gotten through it without the help of my family, friends and co-workers Told you it was a long story For more details go to the KOMO 4 Website |
