Christmas music doesn't have to be old, stale and boring. Here's a random sample of my personal Holiday favorites The Ramones: Merry Christmas, I Don't Want To Fight Tonight. The Children were nestled all snug in their beds with visions of Joey Ramone dancing in their heads. Who hasn't wanted to serenade a loved one with this song a time or two? The Cory Band: Stop The Cavalry. This bouncy little number peaked at #3 on the UK singles charts but was relatively unknown in the United States until a little radio station in Seattle started playing it in the late 80's Sarah Taylor & Bill Mumy: Presents For Santa. Singer Sarah Taylor joins forces with the kid from Lost In Space for a sexy little tune for the naughty elf in all us. Robert Earl Keen: Merry Xmas From The Family, Keen calls the song the "The Rocky Horror of Christmas songs" saying that whether singing before a group of 1000 or 6000 the entire audience sings along. And in particular shouts out the line, "Mix Bloody Marys' cause we all want one". Louis Armstrong: Zat You Santa Clause? Originally recorded by Louis Armstrong with the Commanders in 1953. Covered by Garth Brooks, Buster Poindexter and Brian Setzer Greg Lake: I Believe In Father Christmas: Greg Lake's (King Crimson, Emerson Lake And Palmer) only solo hit (from 1975) The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Dig That Crazy Santa Clause. Brian Setzer's cover of an old Oscar McLollie & His Honey Jumpers tune. The Ronettes: Sleigh Ride. A classic from 1963. Produced by Phil Spector Bing Crosby & David Bowie: Little Drummer Boy. A Perennial Favorite just for its shear weirdness. One of the strangest duets in music history. Rumor has it Bowie did the show because his mother was a huge Bing Crosby fan Darlene Love : All Alone On Christmas : A song written by "Little Steven" Van Zant, performed by Darlene Love & the E Street Band...Need I say more?
